About American Legion Post 598

Horizon City’s home for service, fellowship, and veterans strengthening the community.

American Legion Post 598 serves veterans, military families, and the greater Horizon City area through service, remembrance, advocacy, and community involvement. As part of The American Legion, our Post carries forward a tradition that began in 1919 after World War I and continues today through local posts across the nation. The American Legion’s mission is rooted in “mutual helpfulness” and is built around four pillars: Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and Children & Youth.

At Post 598, those national principles become local action. We provide a place where veterans can connect, families can gather, the community can come together, and the sacrifices of America’s servicemembers are remembered with dignity.

Still Serving

Military service does not end when the uniform comes off.

Post 598 exists for veterans who still want to serve: serve one another, serve military families, serve young people, and serve the community we call home. Whether through remembrance ceremonies, youth and family support, community events, Legion Family programs, or simply checking in on a fellow veteran, our mission is practical and personal.

We are a local Post with a national purpose: Veterans Strengthening America, beginning right here in Horizon City.

Our Mission

Our mission is to support the well-being of veterans, their families, our military, and our community through service, fellowship, and mutual helpfulness.

That means we work to:

Support veterans and their families.

Honor those who served and those who gave their lives.

Strengthen patriotic citizenship and community responsibility.

Provide a welcoming place for connection and fellowship.

Support youth, military families, and local community needs.

Keep the legacy of service alive for the next generation.

What We Believe

A Veteran Is a Veteran

Post 598 welcomes eligible veterans from all branches and eras of service. Every veteran’s story matters, and every veteran deserves respect, connection, and support.

Service Comes First

The American Legion was built by men and women who understood duty. At Post 598, we continue that tradition by serving others before ourselves and strengthening the community around us.

Patriotism With Purpose

We honor the Constitution, the flag, military service, civic responsibility, and the freedoms secured by generations of Americans. Our patriotism is expressed through action, remembrance, and service.

Family and Community Matter

A strong Post is more than a veterans’ organization. It is a gathering place for families, neighbors, volunteers, and friends who want to support those who served.

We Remember

We honor those who came before us by preserving their stories, observing days of remembrance, and teaching future generations why service and sacrifice matter.

The American Legion Family

Post 598 is part of the larger American Legion Family, which may include Legionnaires, the Auxiliary, Sons of The American Legion, and American Legion Riders. Together, the Legion Family supports veterans, military families, youth programs, patriotic education, and community service.

Each part of the Legion Family plays a role, but the mission is shared: serve veterans, strengthen families, and build a stronger community.
