Preserving the Story of American Legion Post 598

American Legion Post 598 has served as a gathering place for veterans, military families, and community members in Horizon City and the surrounding area. Our Post is more than a building. It is a record of service, sacrifice, friendship, and continued commitment to country and community.

As Post Historian, our goal is to preserve that story for current members, future generations, and the families who have helped build this Post over the years.

Our Mission as a Post

Post 598 continues the mission of The American Legion by supporting veterans, strengthening our community, promoting Americanism, mentoring the next generation, and honoring those who served before us.

From meetings and ceremonies to fundraisers, family events, veteran support, and community gatherings, every year adds another chapter to the history of our Post.

Building the Post 598 History Archive

We are currently building a digital archive to help preserve the people, events, and milestones that shaped American Legion Post 598.

This archive may include:

• Post officers and past commanders

• Installation ceremonies

• Community events and fundraisers

• Memorial Day, Veterans Day, and patriotic observances

• Photos, programs, flyers, and newspaper clippings

• Member stories and oral histories

• Awards, certificates, and Post milestones

• American Legion Family events, including Auxiliary, Sons of The American Legion, and Legion Riders activities

This is an ongoing project. The history of Post 598 belongs to the members, families, and community who helped create it.
