Updating Our Website, Strengthening Our Post

American Legion Post 598 is entering a new chapter, and part of that work starts with something simple but important: updating our website.
For many people in Horizon City and the surrounding area, our website may be their first introduction to the Post. They may be a veteran looking for connection, a family member looking for resources, a community member looking for events, or someone simply trying to learn who we are and what we do. A clear, current, and welcoming website helps make that first impression count.
Why the Website Matters
A local American Legion Post is more than a building. It is a place for service, fellowship, remembrance, advocacy, and community support. But if people cannot easily find accurate information online, they may never walk through the door.
Our updated website gives us a better way to share:
Upcoming events and activities
Meeting dates and times
Post history and photos
Veteran and family resources
Legion Family information
Hall rental details
Community service opportunities
Ways to join, volunteer, or support the Post
In short, the website helps tell the story of Post 598.
A Better Front Door for the Community
The goal is not to make the website flashy. The goal is to make it useful.
We want visitors to quickly understand who we are, where we are, what is happening at the Post, and how they can get involved. That means cleaner pages, updated photos, easier navigation, and information that stays current.
For veterans, the site should say: you are welcome here.
For families, it should say: you are part of this mission too.
For the community, it should say: Post 598 is active, open, and ready to serve.
Preserving Our History
As we update the website, we also have an opportunity to preserve and share more of our Post history. Photos, past events, member stories, awards, newspaper clippings, memorials, and milestone moments all help explain how Post 598 became what it is today.
Our history deserves to be more than a box of old photos or a few memories passed around at meetings. It should be organized, protected, and shared with future members.
A strong website can help us do that.
Supporting the Mission
The American Legion’s mission is built on service to veterans, military families, youth, national defense, and American values. At the local level, that mission becomes real through the people who show up, volunteer, cook meals, host events, check on fellow veterans, support families, and keep the Post moving forward.
The updated website will help us better support that mission by making it easier to communicate, invite participation, and highlight the work being done by our members and Legion Family.
What Comes Next
The website update will be a continuing project. Pages will be cleaned up, events will be added, photos will be refreshed, and more resources will be included over time.
We also need help from our members and community. If you have Post photos, historical information, event details, member stories, or ideas for what should be included on the site, we want to hear from you.
This is not just a website update. It is part of strengthening the Post for the future.
Help Us Tell the Story
American Legion Post 598 has a proud mission and a growing role in the Horizon City community. Our website should reflect that.
As we move forward, we invite veterans, families, members, and neighbors to visit the site, attend an event, share feedback, and help us continue building a Post that serves today while honoring those who served before us.
Visit Post 598. Get involved. Share our story. Help us keep serving.
